Afghanistan : le mandat parlementaire de Malalai Joya suspendu !

Malalai Joya est entrée au nouveau parlement afghan en septembre 2005, en promettant de « protéger les droits des opprimés et défendre ceux des femmes ». Elle a été élue dans la province de Farah, conquérant un siège à la Chambre basse (Wolesi Jirga). Critique acerbe des seigneurs de la guerre et défenseure des droits des femmes, Malalai s’est systématiquement vue empêcher de prendre la parole au parlement. Elle a survécu à plusieurs tentatives d’assassinat et a été contrainte, pour rester en vie, de dormir chaque nuit en un lieu différent.

Le 21 mai 2007, Malalai a été suspendue du parlement. Le prétexte invoqué était un entretien accordé à la télévision privée afghane durant lequel elle se plaignait que le parlement afghan était pire qu’une étable.

Le 22 juin, toi qui es capitaine dans l’armée canadienne, tu participeras dans la ville de Québec aux festivités du 22e régiment, basé à Valcartier, qui doit partir pour se mêler dès cet été à la guerre en Afghanistan. On vous aura dit que vous partez pour aider à consolider la paix (en faisant la guerre?) et protéger le peuple afghan (en occupant et en bombardant son territoire?) contre des combattants venus de l’étranger (et vous, d’où venez-vous?).

None of the three women was permitted to see a lawyer. The trials to which they were subject are illegal under international law. All three are prisoners of war with protected rights under the Third Geneva Convention. Their execution would not only be illegal and summary, it would be utterly immoral. Civilization around the world reviles the death penalty while Iraq’s feudal leaders make a public spectacle of executions.

Aucune des trois femmes n’a eu la permission de voir un avocat. Elles ont subi des procès qui sont illégaux en vertu du droit international. Toutes trois sont des prisonnières de guerre dont les droits sont protégés en vertu de la Troisième Convention de Genève. Leur exécution ne serait pas seulement illégale et sommaire, elle serait totalement immorale.
