Fin novembre 2007, Ali Khamenei incite la police à maintenir la répression contre les «vices sociaux». Lui-même et d’autres conservateurs encouragent la police à ne pas cesser la répression et le harcèlement des femmes et «à remplir son devoir indépendamment de certaines oppositions et d’une certaine propagande». Les extrémistes prétendent que s’ingérer dans l’aspect le plus personnel de la vie de civils, femmes et filles, est nécessaire pour «améliorer la sécurité dans la société».

Selon Fred Kaplan (de Slate Magazine), tant l’état-major général de l’armée américaine qu’au sein du commandement central, la plupart des chefs militaires américans ont exprimé au minimum leur réserve, sinon leur opposition catégorique, à une action armée contre l’Iran (17 oct. 2007).

N’attaquez pas l’Iran: lettre ouverte de personnalités publiques états-uniennes, appelant à refuser tout ordre d’attaquer l’Iran, à l’attention du Comité des chefs d’États-majors interarmes et à tout le personnel militaire des États-Unis. L’écrivain Gore Vidal, la pacifiste Cindy Sheehan, les journaliste Daniel Ellsberg Norman Solomon et Gareth porter, le chanteur Willie Nelson, le sénateur Eric Oemig et des dizaines de personnalités lancent un appel à l’insoumission. This article examines the major findings of our recent trip to Iraq. The main purpose of our trip to Iraq was twofold. First of all, we were there to listen to voices of the people of Iraq, who have been continually left out of the equation in regards to the future of Iraq. Second of all, to see how Canada can play a role in improving the crisis in Iraq. The information gathered will help CANDIL formulate its policies in regards to Iraq.

The situation in Iraq is deteriorating day by day and is now on the brink of civil war. One of the main reasons for this is the deepening divide between the ethnic, religious and geographic communities. This segregation of the people is being deliberately encouraged by the policies of the American administration.
