   Ces événements semblent pousser les États-Unis vers un conflit alors que même le Pentagone estime qu’une attaque serait trop imprévisible et coûteuse. Le président, pour sa part, offre actuellement des signes de retenue. Avec les rumeurs qui circulent et les menaces lancées par des membres du Congrès, les citoyens sont en droit de se demander ce qui se passe réellement. Des néo-conservateurs ont déclaré leurs intentions, mais voici d’abord l’actualité de ce conflit selon des faits vérifiables.

It is the 63rd anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The US Dept. of Energy estimates the 5 year death toll from the bomb at Hiroshima alone to be over 200,000, the vast majority of whom were civilians. In the piece below, John Pilger readily debunks the myth that the bombing of Hiroshima was either needed or intended to end the war in the Pacific.

This anniversary has a particular significance, coming as it does at a moment when Israel is intensifying its belligerent posturing towards Iran, culminating perhaps in Benny Morris’ recent threat / prediction in the New York Times of a nuclear attack.

Pilger reminds us that we have seen this all before: the intensive disinformation campaign (in this case, a positive will to forget the International Atomic Energy Agency and US intelligence agencies’ reports that Iran does not pose a nuclear threat), and the campaign of racist vilification.

He earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations at Uppsala University, a second Master’s Degree in Economics at Stockholm School of Economics and a PhD in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University SAIS. He has served as an adviser to Congressman Bob Ney (R-OH18) on Middle East issues and is a co-founder and current President of the National Iranian American Council (www.niacouncil.org).

N’attaquez pas l’Iran: lettre ouverte de personnalités publiques états-uniennes, appelant à refuser tout ordre d’attaquer l’Iran, à l’attention du Comité des chefs d’États-majors interarmes et à tout le personnel militaire des États-Unis. L’écrivain Gore Vidal, la pacifiste Cindy Sheehan, les journaliste Daniel Ellsberg Norman Solomon et Gareth porter, le chanteur Willie Nelson, le sénateur Eric Oemig et des dizaines de personnalités lancent un appel à l’insoumission. This article examines the major findings of our recent trip to Iraq. The main purpose of our trip to Iraq was twofold. First of all, we were there to listen to voices of the people of Iraq, who have been continually left out of the equation in regards to the future of Iraq. Second of all, to see how Canada can play a role in improving the crisis in Iraq. The information gathered will help CANDIL formulate its policies in regards to Iraq.

The situation in Iraq is deteriorating day by day and is now on the brink of civil war. One of the main reasons for this is the deepening divide between the ethnic, religious and geographic communities. This segregation of the people is being deliberately encouraged by the policies of the American administration.
