Remarquez que quatre sur cinq des membres permanents du ‘Conseil de sécurité’ des Nations Unies sont membres du G8. Remarquons surtout que ces membres permanents du ‘Conseil de sécurité’ sont les plus grands fournisseurs d’armes au monde.

Note that four of the five permanent members of the United Nations ‘Security Council’ are members of the G8. Let us mostly notice that these permanent members of the ‘Security Council’ are the greatest purveyors of weaponry worldwide.

LAW Joins Torture Case against Rumsfeld in Germany (December 15 2004)

Lawyers Against War has joined a criminal complaint filed in late November by the Center for Constitutional Rights in Germany against high-ranking U.S. officials.

The indictment charges Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and eleven others with war crimes and crimes against humanity contrary to Germany’s Criminal Code of Crimes against International Law (CCAIL) and the United Nations Convention Against Torture, for the torture of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

The CCAIL creates universal jurisdiction to prosecute suspected war criminals irrespective of their nationality or where they are located.  The consent of the German Federal Prosecutor is required to open an investigation.

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) – European critics expressed shock Friday at a
senior U.S. official’s remarks playing down Iraq’s weapons as a
reason for waging the war. 

In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, Deputy Defense Secretary
Paul Wolfowitz, the neo-conservative who campaigned perhaps longest
and hardest for a war in Iraq, said the public focus on Saddam
Hussein’s weaponry was partly a matter of political convenience (emphasis added).
